About the Bloomington Police Department

The Bloomington Police Department serves a diverse community of 80,000.  Our sister city, Normal, has approximately 50,000 residents. The department is staffed by 133 sworn officers and 38 non-sworn support staff.

We work in partnership with the community members to enforce the laws and to enhance the quality of life in our community. We strive to be diligent, equitable, and fair as we serve those who learn, live, play, worship, and work in the City of Bloomington.

The Bloomington-Normal community is home to several large corporations including State Farm, Grow Mark, Country Companies, Rivian, and Ferrero Chocolate. The area is also home to several large colleges and universities including Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, and Heartland Community College.
