Looking to pay an ordinance violation?
Prior to your court date, you may pay the fine for your Ordinance Violation by any of the following methods:
- Mail to the Legal Dept., 115 East Washington Street, Suite 403, Bloomington, IL 61701.
- By phone using Visa, Mastercard, Discover at 309-434-2509 EXT. 0
- In-person at the Hub, located inside the Government Center, 115 E. Washington St.
Ordinance Violations may be paid up until the day prior to the listed court date on your Ordinance Violation. Extensions of time to pay are not given. Making the payment prior to court will settle the matter and you will not need to appear in court. If the ticket is not paid prior to the listed court date, an appearance must be made or the City will seek a default order in Administrative Court which includes the fine amount and court costs of $110.
What is an Ordinance Violation?:
An ordinance violation happens when someone breaks a local law created by the City of Bloomington. These laws, also called municipal codes, are designed to keep our community safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
Ordinance violations are not criminal offenses and are not included in your Criminal History Record Information (CHRI). Instead, they are civil matters that are usually handled through a fine or other corrective action.
Examples of ordinance violations include:
