Vacation Watch
Going out of town? The Bloomington Police Department offers a Vacation Watch Program to help keep your home or property safe while you’re away. This free service provides peace of mind to residents who will be gone for an extended period.
How It Works
-
Residents submit a Vacation Watch request with details such as travel dates, property address, and emergency contact information.
-
While you’re away, patrol officers will periodically check your residence or property during their regular shifts.
-
Officers look for signs of suspicious activity and verify that the property appears in order.
Tips to Help Keep Your Home Safe
-
Leave a light on or use timers to give the appearance that someone is home.
-
Ask a trusted neighbor to collect mail, newspapers, or packages.
-
Avoid sharing detailed travel plans on social media until after you return.
-
Secure valuables inside the home and lock all doors, windows, and garages.
