• Active Shooter Awareness: A 101-level class generally offered to businesses and places of worship to get you and your staff mentally prepared for the worst possible scenario. We will cover FBI statistics and trends, what police response will be, the best practices for prevention, your response and how to report to law enforcement.
• De-escalation for Civilians: Get similar conflict resolution skills taught to our officers, but in a condensed version specifically geared for non-law enforcement. The class is centered on empathy, patience and professionalism.
• Your Police & You: Takes you step-by-step through all the interactions civilians might have with police that might cause anxiety. What to do on a traffic stop, what to do after a crash (both minor and serious), how to pay a ticket or ordinance violation, and various other situations. This is a real opportunity to find out why police operate the way we do, and to ask all the questions you ever had about policing. 
• Scams & Identity Theft: Updates on trends in current scams targeting our community, especially our senior citizens. Advice on how to recognize scams and what to do if you or someone you care about has been the victim of a scam.
• Women's Safety: Navigating life as a woman carries significantly different dangers, and this class offers insights into various trends in evolving dangers specifically targeting women. This is NOT a physical defense class. It is more of an awareness and psychological dive into being prepared and cautious.
• Bullying: (Typically for ages 5-13) Teaching youth about empathy, kindness and respect. 
• Get Hired at BPD: For those considering a career in law enforcement, this gives a step-by-step instruction on how to get hired at BPD and answers any questions one might have about navigating the BPD hiring process. Already given to Criminal Justice classes at ISU, HCC and BACC.
• Community Engagement Unit: Learn about one of BPD's newest units, the Community Engagement Unit. The CEU has been involved in over 1,000 events since 2022, building positive relationships and trust throughout the entire community. CEU does this through one-on-one meetings, group meetings, coming to things like block parties, luncheons, festivals, trunk-or-treats, touch-a-truck events, etc. Learn about why it is important for police to develop trust throughout all segments of our community and all the various ways BPD goes about doing that. Also learn how you can have BPD come to your events or meet with you and your groups to answer all your police-related questions.

We co-host several events throughout the year with local business partners. They provide a space and coffee or frozen custard/ ice-cream. We will be there for conversation and any questions you may have. These events provide for a relaxed environment where community members can engage with officers in meaningful conversation.
